The Maha Kumbh Mela, a significant Hindu festival held every 12 years, is scheduled to take place in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, from January 13 to February 26, 2025. This event is anticipated to attract over 400 million devotees worldwide, making it one of the largest religious gatherings globally.
In preparation for this grand event, the Uttar Pradesh government has extended special invitations to a diverse group of dignitaries and communities:
National Leaders: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has personally invited prominent figures, including President Droupadi Murmu, Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, to participate in the Maha Kumbh.
State Representatives: Invitations have been sent to the Chief Ministers and Governors of all Indian states, emphasizing the event’s national significance and promoting cultural unity.
International Diplomats: The state government has reached out to diplomats from 34 countries, inviting them to experience India’s rich cultural heritage during the festival.
Northeastern Saints: Recognizing the cultural contributions of the northeastern states, the government has extended special invitations to saints from this region, granting them the status of state guests. A dedicated area, Prag Jyotishpur, is being prepared within the Kumbh complex to showcase northeastern traditions and host related events.
These efforts underscore the inclusive nature of the Maha Kumbh 2025, aiming to bring together people from various backgrounds to celebrate India’s spiritual and cultural unity.
